Our Story

Water’s Edge started as a simple college Bible study in a home. It was a gathering of a few people wanting to know as much of God as possible. In July of 2002, the group started with just 5 people. Over the next 15 months, the group would grow from 5 people to 40-50 people in weekly attendance. While meeting in a home, God moved in amazing ways as people received Christ, and college students grew in their love and commitment to God.

Reaching the limits of what could be done in a single home, the ministry transitioned into a church building in November of 2004. With 50 normal attendees and a road sign, the Water’s Edge college ministry started and doubled in one night. Over the next 3 years, the ministry grew and saw many people become followers of Jesus; learning how to follow Him during their college years.

In late 2007, Water’s Edge became a community of people seeking to follow Christ by “Giving Ourselves Away.” In that season, hundreds of us committed to begin Giving Ourselves Away to God in Worship, to Others in Community, and to the World in Compassion. Right alongside this commitment to give ourselves away was our transition into the new 12Stone Church building in January of 2008.
Over the next two years, we met in the Cafe Theater of 12Stone Church.  In that time, we grew to a place of serving an average of 400 students every week.  God was very gracious as we saw many students come to Christ during that time.  As God added to our numbers, we prepared for the largest transition we had ever known.  In February of 2010, we moved into the main worship center at 12Stone Church.

Today, Water’s Edge is seeing God engage more people than ever before in the life of its community. Water’s Edge is poised and working to see hundreds more college aged young adults follow Jesus by giving themselves away.
